APMEX alternatives for crypto buyers: 5 dealers, matched by what you need
The APMEX alternatives for crypto buyers on this page are Bullion Standard, Silver Gold Bull, JM Bullion, Kitco and SD Bullion, each picked for one part of APMEX's crypto checkout it matches or does differently. APMEX's strengths for a crypto buyer are breadth and reach: it takes 15 coins through BitPay and ships to 33 countries. Its limits are a $400,000 weekly crypto cap and written terms that don't agree with each other.
On APMEX's product pages, crypto costs 3% less than card or PayPal and about 1 point more than check or wire. At 12:47 MST on October 21, 2026, a 1 oz American Gold Eagle BU listed at $4,368.19 by check or wire, $4,413.69 in crypto and $4,550.20 by card or PayPal for 1 to 9 coins. The price table's note says the crypto column includes "a 3.0% cash discount".
Where APMEX's own pages disagree
Three APMEX pages describe the same checkout in different ways. We go by the product-page prices, which are what you'd pay.
- The crypto discount. The product page says crypto prices include a 3.0% discount. The payment FAQ says shown prices include the 4% cash discount "unless you choose to pay by credit card, PayPal, Bitcoin and Bitcoin cash", which mentions no crypto discount at all. The buying FAQ leaves Bitcoin out of that sentence and names only card and PayPal.
- The international minimum. Orders shipped outside the US "have a $250.00 minimum when purchasing by Credit Card, Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash" and $1,500 by bank wire, per the buying FAQ. APMEX accepts 13 other coins, and the page doesn't say which minimum applies to them.
- Changing how you pay. The buying FAQ says "We can make some changes, such as changing a payment method." The payment FAQ is narrower: APMEX "cannot change an existing order from Cryptocurrency to another payment method unless the payment could not be validated", and switching to crypto after ordering isn't allowed. If you pay in crypto, plan to keep it that way.
How we picked these five
We track 14 dealers that take crypto (full list). For each feature that sets APMEX apart in our data, we chose the dealer whose own pages, re-read on October 19 to 21, 2026, publish the closest match or a clear difference:
- APMEX's coin list: Bullion Standard names the same 15 coins, and Silver Gold Bull names 16.
- APMEX's shipping abroad: Silver Gold Bull, Kitco and SD Bullion all serve buyers outside the US.
- APMEX's order ceiling: JM Bullion allows $2,000,000 on a single crypto order.
The other dealers we track were left out because they ship only within the US and share an owner with JM Bullion, publish conflicting limits, or don't publish a crypto discount we could confirm. Each has a profile on the comparison table.

1 oz Gold Eagle prices at 12:47 MST on October 21, 2026
The crypto prices below are single-coin listings read from each dealer's own product page at 12:47 MST (Arizona time) on October 21, 2026, within the same minute. JM Bullion's and Silver Gold Bull's product pages didn't show us a price at that time, so they're left out of this table rather than shown with an older figure; Silver Gold Bull doesn't list a crypto price on its product pages in any case. Our JM Bullion alternatives page has October 20 check, wire and card prices for both. Sales tax is excluded, and gold moves during the day, so confirm the total on the invoice.
| Dealer | Crypto price, Oct 21, 12:47 MST | APMEX's crypto price is higher by |
|---|---|---|
| APMEX (BU, random year) | $4,413.69 | (baseline) |
| Bullion Standard | $4,366.55 | $47.14 |
| Kitco (Bitcoin) | $4,331.21 | $82.48 |
| SD Bullion (Bitcoin) | $4,287.80 | $125.89 |
APMEX's crypto price was the highest of the four we read, $47.14 above Bullion Standard and $125.89 (2.9%) above SD Bullion. At the same time, APMEX's check or wire price was $4,368.19 and its card price was $4,550.20.
For a larger silver piece, APMEX's 10 oz APMEX silver bar listed at $696.30 by check or wire, $703.55 in crypto and $725.31 by card at 12:47 MST on October 21, 2026, the same 3% crypto gap. Other dealers sell different 10 oz bars, so we haven't set them side by side.
Shipping abroad: APMEX's terms and the alternatives
APMEX Global's international page lists 33 destinations: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Cayman Islands, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Parcels travel by FedEx International Economy or UPS Worldwide Expedited. The customer pays duties and taxes on delivery, and APMEX declares the full value on every customs form. If a parcel comes back because delivery was refused or failed, you owe the return freight, any duties APMEX advanced, and re-ship fees before it goes out again.
Returns are accepted within seven days of receipt. Bitcoin refunds are paid through BitPay at the dollar rate on the day the refund is processed, so exchange-rate swings between purchase and refund are yours. Inside the US, orders over $199 ship free, and smaller ones cost $9.95.
Outside APMEX's list, Kitco quotes international shipping from $135, and Silver Gold Bull sells through separate country websites that ship from Canada. We found no country list from SD Bullion or Bullion Standard; ask before paying.
Pick by the APMEX feature you need
- You want APMEX's coin list with a cap that isn't weekly: Bullion Standard names the same 15 coins and adds Lightning, with a $100,000 order limit. Its listed crypto price sat 2% below card at 12:47 MST on October 21, 2026, a point less off than APMEX's 3%.
- You hold USDT or PYUSD, or ship from Canada: Silver Gold Bull lists both coins, the only dealer of our 14 that does, and sends international orders from Canada. Its product pages show no crypto price, so check the BitPay invoice.
- Your order is over $400,000: JM Bullion's $2,000,000 limit applies per order, but it ships to US addresses only. APMEX's own ceiling is crypto-specific: for domestic orders in general it sets no maximum and suggests phoning its sales department above $500,000 to learn whether a deposit applies. International card orders there stop at $25,000 per transaction.
- You pay in Bitcoin only, under $10,000, possibly outside the US: Kitco ships abroad from $135 and wants payment from your own wallet, not an exchange.
- You're outside the US and want to pay with a coin besides Bitcoin: SD Bullion says international customers can use BitPay, with a $250,000 Bitcoin limit.
- The lowest total matters more than paying in crypto: at 12:47 MST on October 21, 2026, check or wire was cheaper than crypto at APMEX and at each of the three alternatives we read at the same time. Our crypto vs wire vs card comparison covers that gap in more detail.
Frequently asked questions
Does APMEX give a discount for paying in crypto?
Its product pages do. The price table says crypto prices include a 3.0% discount, and on October 21, 2026 the crypto price for a 1 oz Gold Eagle was exactly 3.0% below card. APMEX's payment FAQ reads as if only check, eCheck and wire get a discount, so the written terms and the prices don't match.
Which APMEX alternatives ship outside the US and take crypto?
Silver Gold Bull ships abroad from Canada, Kitco ships internationally from $135, and SD Bullion says international customers can pay through BitPay. Bullion Standard arranges international orders through its support team. JM Bullion ships to US addresses only.
Can I switch an APMEX crypto order to wire after checkout?
No, not as a rule. APMEX's payment FAQ says it can't move an existing order from crypto to another method unless the crypto payment couldn't be validated. Its buying FAQ says payment methods can sometimes be changed, but the crypto-specific answer is the narrower one.
Dealer links on this page are plain links to each dealer's own website. We have no approved affiliate programs as of October 21, 2026, so none of these links pays us; affiliate links will be labelled if that changes (disclosure). This page compares published crypto terms and listed prices and doesn't recommend buying or selling metal or crypto. Prices move during the day; confirm the total on the invoice.
